Kluane Poppy (Papaver radicatum subsp. kluanensis)
These are very rare in Summit County; I found them on Hoosier Ridge, July 6, 2008 (and July 4, 2009).
Here is a better photo, from the Continental Divide ridge north of North Mt Massive, July 20, 2008.
And on July 19, 2009, we found many clumps like the following on the eastern slopes of North Mt. Massive, just below the summit.
And again from North Mt Massive, on July 5, 2010. This was early and we saw many pods and many with green veils, as they had just popped.
And again from N Mt. Massive, on July 20, 2011, at about 14100 feet.
