Mt Elbert, Southeast side (June 2008)

The southeast trail up Elbert is very pleasant and on June 15, 2008, Dave Blakeslee, Janet Jacks, Paul Asper, Nancy Weidman, and I carried skis up it to the top of Elbert. We used sneakers to the summit (3.7 hours). On descent we made a continuous line (except for 12 paces just off the top) from the summit down the SE face to two prominent couloirs that one sees on the way up, and skied them both. We had 2300 feet of good skiing. Here is Nancy skiing just below the 14440-foot summit.
