Here is a list of gear that summarizes what we took for the Snow Ocean to Battle Abbey trip.

Group Gear

Maps (2 copies for the group; plastic map case), compass, GPS, with a pen for marking the map when readings are taken

Repair kit
Tents (North Face VE25 works very well for three sleepers, five eaters)
Kitchen (two stoves, adequate fuel, two large pots, one frying pan, misc. utensils for
      stirring, cleaning, several lighters, bases for the stoves so that they do not melt into the
      snow (plain foam works, though MSR makes a lightweight metal base that we use)
Pulleys (approx. one for every two people)
Radio or satellite phone if desired
Food


Individual

Skis, skins, poles, boots
Backpack
Altimeter watch
Toilet paper
One large garbage bag, for use as a pack cover, and also to gather snow hunks for melting.
Avalanche beacon and shovel
Sunglasses and goggles
Sunscreen and lip cream, perhaps including labiosan or zinc oxide.
Harness (type that goes on without taking boots off is best)
Carabiners (one locking, one not), prusik slings, possibly one or two extra slings
Ice ax (used rarely, so get the lightest available)
Sleeping bag (medium weight) and pad
Pillow
Blister repair items
Knife, bowl, fork and spoon, cup for hot drinks
Headlamp

Spare binding parts for one's individual binding

Clothes: Light down parka (with hood)
     Down booties
     Light fleece top
     Long underwear top and bottom (the new odorless variety allow one to get by for a week with one top and one bottom)
     Spare top for use at camp
     Socks (2 pair thick; 1 pair thin for camp)
     Sun hat
     Warm hat
     Light gloves for skiing (leather or nylon seem better than fleece)
     Warm gloves
     Short underwear
     T-shirt (1 or 2)

Very small pack to be used for day tours (we use one such pack to wrap the kitchen)
